Nina is well known to the people of Dublin 15. She has worked in both single handed and more corporate style practices. Nina has a deep understanding of the health concerns and needs, of those attending a GP, and what they want from their local clinic.
Nina Graduated third in her class with an honours medical degree from Trinity College in 1996. She undertook post graduate training in hospital medicine in Ireland, the USA and Australia, including time spent at the prestigious Cleveland Clinic Ohio, before returning to Ireland and undertaking post graduate training in General practice. She became a member of the Irish College of General Practitioners in 2004. In addition to her GP qualification, she has completed a postgraduate diploma in Clinical Psychiatry. She believes strongly that a person’s mental health has a profound influence on their physical wellbeing.
Nina enjoys all aspects of general family practice. She really enjoys getting to the root of any problem and will leave no stone unturned trying to get an answer for your symptoms and concerns. Having spent several years working in hospital medicine, she is comfortable managing those with more complex medical complaints.
Caring for children is the highlight of her day. Being a Mom to three children, ranging in age from pre-teen to toddler, she is comfortable caring for children of all ages. She knows that the solution to many of the issues that worry parents and children alike are not to be found on the pages of medical books but are learned through years of experience as a doctor and mother.
Having trained in antenatal care, and experienced three pregnancies herself, Nina really enjoys looking after expectant mom’s. Her motto is that pregnancy is a state of health and a healthy happy Mom hopefully leads to a healthy happy baby.
She is trained in all aspects of contraceptive care and is qualified in the insertion and removal of coils and contraceptive implants.
Nina’s other special areas of interest include cardiovascular and preventive health, women’s health and lifestyle medicine.
Nina is well known in Irish media and has been praised for her straight talking empathetic approach. She writes a weekly column for the health section of the Irish Independent, presents a medical slot on The Tubridy Show on 2FM on alternate Tuesday mornings and has co presented the TV shows “Health of the Nation” for RTE and most recently “Doctor in the House” for TV3. Her book “ Your Health Matters” was published in 2011.
Having had many excellent mentors throughout her career she is committed to the next generation of doctors. She is involved in teaching first year undergraduate Trinity Medical Students.
Nina was born in Ireland but spent part of her childhood living in France and the USA. She is now settled in Dublin with her husband and 3 children.
She is delighted that so many of her previous patients believe in the ethos of Generation Health and continue to attend her. She looks forward to welcoming many new faces and families aboard.
James graduated from University of Dundee, Scotland in 2007. He subsequently moved to Glasgow to work and complete his post graduate GP Training. He gained Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners in 2012.
James was born in Ireland but spent most of his life living abroad in several countries, including the USA and Italy. He has now returned to Ireland to live and work as a GP with his wife who is from Scotland. Since returning to Ireland he has gained valuable experience working in GP practices in Lucan and Crumlin in particular.
James enjoys travel and has also spent some time volunteering medically in Southern Africa and South East Asia. He is a member of the Vasco de Gamma movement which aims to promote the discipline of General Practice and it’s ideals throughout Europe.
He enjoys all aspects of general practice and getting answers to your medical queries is important to him. His particular areas of interest include Mens health, travel medicine, health promotion and disease prevention.
James is a very keen sportsman. Throughout his five years in Dundee he played for the medical school football team captaining it in his final year. He continues to play football. When he gets the chance he enjoys surfing, mountain biking, golf and hiking. He believes strongly in the importance of sport in society and health.
James’ pleasant empathetic approach is appreciated by all who attend him. He is a very welcome addition to the team at Generation Health and looks forward to meeting and getting to know the patients of the Surgery.
Tonya studied medicine at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, graduating in 2005.
She subsequently undertook post graduate training in General Practice with the Royal College of Surgeon’s Specialist training scheme in General Practice. She is a Member of the Irish College of General Practitioners.
During her post graduate training Tonya gained valuable experience in General adult medicine, Paediatrics, Accident &Emergency care , Psychiatry and Women’s Health.
Tonya qualified and worked as a general and paediatric nurse prior to, and while returning to, college to study medicine and so has a wealth of experience in this field. She worked in acute adult and paediatric hospitals as well as time spent in specialised units providing care to the elderly and those with learning disabilities
Tonya really enjoys the close and longterm relationship that GP’s can forge with their patient’s this was one of the things that attracted her to a career as a GP.
Tonya enjoys all aspects of general practice. Her special interests include Paediatrics , Women’s Health, Family Planning , and Psychiatry.
Tonya has obtained a Post Graduate Certificate in Family Planning and is trained and qualified in all aspects of contraceptive care including Mirena coil and Implanon insertion and removal.
Tonya is married and lives in Dublin with her husband and 2 children. Personally she is an accomplished dancer having studied ballet, modern and contemporary dance. She has undertaken professional examinations in ballet at the Royal Academy of dance London.
Tonya is delighted to join the team at Generation Health and shares their passion for empathy and excellence in healthcare. Her friendly bubbly manner is popular with patients and staff alike and she looks forward to getting to know the patients of the surgery.
Susan has over 14 years experience working in General Practice. She is qualified in general and paediatric nursing, is a registered midwife, a qualified nurse prescriber and is currently completing her post graduate training to become a general practice nurse practitioner. She has previously set up and managed cervical smear clinics, sexual health clinics, travel clinics and a clinic to manage those with chronic disease such as diabetes. She has vast experience in caring for Mom’s and babies providing expert antenatal care and administering immunisations.
Susan really enjoys her job. She greets everyone she meets with enthusiasm and warmth, puts them at ease and has a great rapport with all who attend her. Mom’s and babies get special care as she is also a wife and mother of three and previously took time out from her career to be a stay at home mom.
Due to her vast qualifications Susan can provide an expansive range of services and we are delighted to welcome her to the Generation Health team.
Susan is also talented musician she plays and has taught the violin.
Niamh worked in the life assurance industry as a medical underwriter before moving to the GP setting. She has worked for several GPs in Dublin for many years, working on reception and developing her practice management skills in the back office. She recently completed the Irish College of General Practitioners Diploma course in Management in Practice and is delighted to join the team at Generation Health and further develop her career in this area.
There are many people who find engaging in the healthcare process stressful. With a caring and friendly attitude, Niamh is dedicated to making the patient experience as straightforward and stress free as possible. She is determined to maintain the ethos of Generation Health and is delighted to listen to any compliments you might have about the practice. In the unlikely event that your experience falls short of your expectations she is more than happy to deal with any concerns or comments you have, will follow up on them and provide timely feed back to you.
Niamh has a young daughter and spends her free time acting as her personal chauffeur!
Catherine is a highly skilled and trained medical receptionist who is very enthusiastic about her job. She has over 20 years customer care experience. Having taken a career break to be a full time wife and mother she returned to work, completed her training as a medical receptionist, and has worked in GP practices since . She previously worked as a medical receptionist in a busy general practice in Maynooth and was well liked by patients and staff alike. Patients who attend there still ask for her on a regular basis.
Catherine is the first person many people come in contact with when visiting or calling the clinic. She really enjoys meeting and helping people and it is this aspect of the job that attracted her to general practice. Her mission is to make your experience of Generation Health as seamless and stress free as possible. She is always on hand to help out, just ask.
Catherine lives in Celbridge with her husband and children.
Nuala will be a familiar face to many people who attend Generation Health. She has worked with Dr Nina in a number of different practice’s over the last 10 years and is delighted to join her as an integral part of the team at Generation Health. Nuala always goes above and beyond the call of duty to help anyone she can from getting a glass of water to lending a listening ear. Nuala is the first person many people meet when attending or calling the surgery and she greets them with enthusiasm, kindness and respect. She constantly strives to improve the patient experience. She is happy to deal with any queries you may have and aims to welcome you to Generation Health and make your time with us as seamless and stress free as possible.
Nuala lives in Castleknock with her husband and 2 daughters.
Dr Catherine Wilkinson graduated from NUI Galway in 2005. She completed her post graduate training in General Practice in 2012 and has been working in Dublin since. Catherine is very experienced in all areas of general practice but her special areas of interest are in Women’s health and Dermatology ( Skin care). She is fully trained in all methods of family planning and can insert and remove Implanon’s and Mirena coils. She achieved distinction on completion of the highly respected Cardiff University Diploma in Dermatology in July 2012 and has continued to develop her interest in this area. She works in the dermatology clinic in Tallaght Hospital one afternoon a week. Catherine experience is vast. She has worked in many specialities including Cardiology, Renal Medicine, Paediatrics and Surgery. She can undertake joint injections of the shoulder, elbow and knee.
In her spare time Catherine likes to stay fit and challenge herself. She runs and plays badminton regularly and has previously climbed the summit of Mount Kenya.
We welcome Catherine to the Generation Health team. Her warm manner and pleasant smile put patients immediately at ease.
Dr Genna Jean Kenny graduated from University College Cork with an Honours Medical degree in 2010. Her love of working in the community, getting to know patients and dealing with their needs lead her to the discipline of General Practice. Dr Kenny completed the Cork Specialist Training Programme for General Practice in 2015 and subsequently became a member of the Irish College of General Practitioners.
Dr Kenny enjoys all areas of general practice and has a special interest in Sports and Exercise Medicine. She completed a master's degree in Sports and Exercise Medicine from University College Cork and has also lectured to the undergraduate medical students on this topic for the past number of years. Dr Kenny has a particular interest in joint, back and muscular problems, joint injection, sports injuries and weight loss. She also has a keen interest in the role of exercise in chronic disease management and helping people with chronic disease to achieve their exercise goals.
Dr Kenny also has a strong interest in health promotion, preventative medicine and women's health. She holds a diploma in women's health from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.Her favourite aspect of general practice is the patients. She really enjoys getting to know people and helping them to the best of her ability - she is well known for always going the extra mile to find a solution to their problem.
Dr Kenny is originally from Clonakilty in West Cork but her husband is from Dublin so she moved up to Dublin in 2015. In her spare time she likes to keep fit and especially loves to play basketball. Basketball has been a huge part of her life since teens. She was lucky enough to play at an international level for a number of years and also for a team in the U.S.A. .
Treatment of everyday problems, as often referred to as counselling, but the term is sometimes used interchangeably with “psychotherapy”. Therapy is the process of meeting with a therapist to resolve problematic behaviours, feelings, beliefs, relationship-issues, anxiety, depression, bereavement, separation, life-changes and childhood-abuse. Therapy helps people to live happier, healthier and more productive lives. Sharon uses several approaches to deal with the above issues; including mindfulness, cognitive behavioural therapy, interpersonal and stress-management training to help people work through their problems. Sharon provides a supportive environment that allows clients to talk openly with someone who is objective, non-judgmental and neutral.
